| Hot Rubberized Crackfilling is the process of applying a rubberized sealant into the existing cracks in the asphalt pavement. The filler provides a barrier to stop water infiltration into the pavement sub-base. Sunlight oxidation of the asphalt oils, the freeze and thaw cycles of the Midwest, causes shrinkage of the pavement surface. This causes the asphalt to crack allowing water to reach the pavement underlayment, leading to base erosion. A proper crackfilling maintenance program will help prevent deterioration, extending the life of your asphalt investment. Steps in the Crackfilling Process - (Routed); 1) The cracks are routed to create a reservoir. 2) Cracks are cleaned with 3,000 degree heated compressed air for crack preparation. 3) Filling and banding of cracks with a hot rubber sealant. ** Rubber Sealant Meet Federal Specifications ASTM D3405. | ||
